He Walks!
Want to get your kid to walk to you? All you need to do is move a few steps away and shoot the video on a cell phone that your kid really, really wants from you. Josh started taking steps a few weekends ago and he is starting to get to the point where he walks almost as much as he crawls. He beat Emma by at least two months!

1 Year Pics (A Little Late)

I guess everyone was right when they said that there would be fewer pictures of the second one. To be honest, there have been fewer pictures of both kids since Josh came along. We've been planning to take pictures of Josh at one year for a couple of months now and either timing or the weather have conspired against us. This afternoon was perfect weather when I got home from work, so we put Josh in his outfit and ran down to the park for a quick photo shoot. It was pretty impromptu, but I think it turned out well.
Sick

Emma came back from California this weekend with a cough and a touch of fever. We didn't really think too much of it as she was generally happy and playful, but come Monday she was cooking and very tired. We took her to the doctor who diagnosed her with pneumonia. I stayed home yesterday to take care of her since the sitter didn't want her if she was possibly contagious. It was another rainy day here in the morning and since we were both getting a little stir crazy I decided to make sugar cookies with Emma's help. These images are from this afternoon when Emma and I were frosting the cookies. Emma was more content frosting herself, but we let it slide since she's barely eaten anything the past few days. The last image snuck its way in because the look on her face pretty much sums up how she's been the last couple of days.

Happy Anniversary Jill
Ok, so I know I'm a few days late for this, but Jill's incessant playing of Spider Solitaire the last few days has rendered the computer unavailable quite a bit this week. However, I didn't want to let the occasion pass by without saying a few words to mark our six year (holy cow, who's spinning the clock???) anniversary.
I'm sure a lot of people think that Jill and I are crazy and our relationship is out of whack. Honestly, we do things differently than most couples, but it works for us. Sometimes we look forward to our days apart doing different things as much as we do spending the day together. I like to think it balances our relationship, some may think differently. Kind of like how Jill and I look at couples who spend all of their time together and think "we would kill each other!"
However you slice it, everything has worked out pretty well for us. We've got two wonderful kids who bring us as much joy as they do test our patience (a character flaw we both possess). We've got a wonderful home and great friends. I'm sure that if you told us six years ago as we struggled through the "summer of poorness" together that things would be this nice right now we wouldn't believe you. God's grace works in amazing ways.
What more could I ask for? I have a wife who lets me buy guns (occasionally), mess up the kitchen table with reloading supplies weekly, and generally puts up with my crap. All I have to do in return is give her a few neck rubs, pick up after myself, and occasionally let her go on a clothes spending spree.
Happy belated anniversary Jill. I love you and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us.
