Hailie's Halloween Costume

Today I took some pictures for Beth of her daughter Hailie. The plan was to get some pictures of Hailie in her Halloween costume, but we forgot to run that plan by her first. She wasn't in a picture mood at the park, so we came back to the house to try a few more. Even her friend Emma couldn't cheer her up. Once the costume was off, she brightened up and played along for the camera a bit. We'll get it right next time Beth... :o)

A New Model

In case you were wondering, I do take pictures of people besides Emma. These are some pictures of her cousin Abby from Sunday. She's a big ham for the camera. Emma did manage to sneak in a cameo, probably because Abby is always right by her side (or vice versa.) Note the enthralling game of Candyland in the 4th photo. She was kicking Jill's butt...

Lazy Sunday

We were blessed with wonderful weather on Sunday, so we spent most of the day outside with Jill's parents. Emma woke up from her nap right before the sun went down and played in their grass. As you can see, she had a great time!

Eating With a Spoon

Okay, I know that I post too many pictures of Emma eating. Unfortunately, by the time I get home from work it's pretty much the only time I have to get shots of her. Tonight was momentous though as it was the first time she held the spoon on her own to feed herself. As you can see it was quite a mess. The last frame is her newest phase in which she holds up her arms until someone around says "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Their brains really are sponges at this age and they pick up on the strangest little details. I hope all her meals don't end up as messy as this one did or we will be cleaning 24/7.

Late Night Snack

Emma slept pretty late for her afternoon nap, so we did some running around in the evening. Since Emma didn't really have a full dinner, Jill decided to give her some watermelon before bed. She loved it and was clapping the whole time. At the end of the meal, Jill decided to stick her tongue out at Emma, which she was punished for. Brings a new meaning to tongue twister...

Wake Up and Play

What an eventful day! Emma woke up from her morning nap ready to go, so we went. First we played around the house for a little while and then it was off to Freestone Park. It was pretty darn hot out, so Emma didn't stay in the swing for too long (there were metal brackets on there and I didn't want her to burn herself.) When we got home, we tried on her Halloween outfit that I picked up during our morning Target run. It was an 18 month size (no 12 month ones there) so we had to give it a test fit. It was a little big so it will probably go back, but not before she posed in it...

Emma Soprano

This is another one that Carlos took on Sunday. We were trying so hard to make Emma smile, but she wasn't being cooperative. Keith and Katie were literally hopping around behind Carlos trying to get Emma to crack a smile. In the end, we got this priceless shot of Emma staring the camera down. It looks like the kind of shot you would see on a movie poster for a mob flick.

Already improved

I've resized the pictures to make them a little smaller. This should make them more viewable when you click on them. I wasn't expecting them to download full size, but I guess they did! Thanks Paul for the suggestion!

A few more...

Here's a few more pics from this week. The top is from our portrait shoot on Sunday. Go figure that we were the ones that we supposed to be getting our pictures taken and I end up taking pictures...

The middle two frames are from dinner this evening. One second she was loving the mac and cheese and the next she was screaming. I got a little scolding from Jill for letting her scream while I took a few frames. Thanks to Carlos for letting me borrow the 100mm macro so I could get pics like these.

The last shot is from a few days ago in the front room. Emma loves to stand up on the couch cushion and look out the window. This shot was in between standing up when her legs needed a little break. On a couple of the frames from this set if I zoom in on the RAW image, I can see myself taking the picture in the iris of her eyes. Have I mentioned I love this camera??? :o)

New camera/Emma pics

The new camera is here and of course I had to try it out on my favorite subject, Emma. Our friends, the Weavers, met up with us and took a few pictures for Emma's first birthday (which is coming up way too soon.) Emma wasn't in a very photogenic mood, but we still got some good frames. The second shot was made by Carlos Weaver using my camera and his wide angle lens (credit where it is due :o). More pics to come soon.
