Emma's Feelin' Better

Emma has been fighting off an ear infection and a nasty infection on her finger for the last few days. The antibiotics have finally kicked in and she's back to her genial old self. The first frame is from last night when we were hanging out with all the friends. The other two are from this morning. Emma was taking a bath while Jill was in the shower and she seemed to want to try the shower out. We put her in and I loved how her hands looked as she leaned against the shower door. Of course the camera was nearby to record the whole thing.

Walking

Emma has finally gotten up the courage to start walking! She loves pushing her toy around the house and she has quickly gotten very good at maneuvering around obstacles. She still relies on support quite a bit, but she has managed to do about 10 steps at a time on her own.

Now that she has discovered that she can walk around, Emma is feeling a bit stir crazy in the house. We've taken several trips to the park over the last couple of days. Emma does a good job of wearing herself out, which has made for some nice long naps.

The website is up and running. There aren't tons of pictures on there right now, but I am adding them as quickly as I can. Must Be Teething Again...

We discovered recently that Emma loved having her teeth brushed. She stole our toothbrushes and would play with them forever. We finally just bought her a toothbrush of her own and she loves it. These pictures are from Sunday afternoon. Today Emma was a total pill and was unhappy all day. Jill blames it on teething. I guess we'll know soon enough. I've never seen a kid with so many teeth!

Family

Last weekend was a great opportunity for the Hildwine family to all get together. The brothers and sisters all posed for a quick pic at the reception. I managed to capture two Geros at once in the second frame, although Paul was captured a little more inadvertently. I guess he wanted some blackmail photos of his mom too...

Lindie's Wedding Part 3- Black and Whites

Weddings look great in black and white, don't they? Need I say more?

I love the last frame. I'm sure it's too artsy for some, but Lin's expression is great. I made this image by popping the flash but dragging the shutter a little to get the motion in there. Out of the 600 or so pictures that I took, it's in the top 3.

So that's it for Lindie and Dave's wedding. I have a ton more that I could post, but in the interest of saving my marriage, I won't spend any more time on the pictures for right now. I did shoot a few rolls of B&W film that Paul took to develop and scan, so when I get those back I'll post any good ones.

Congratulations Lindie and Dave! I hope you have a chance to look at these while you're in Hawaii. If any of you want to post a comment for them, I will make sure that they see it.

Lindie's Wedding Part 2-The Ceremony & Reception

Since the clouds were threatening to open up with rain at any moment, the wedding ceremony was pretty quick. I sat back and let Paul (the real photographer) get all of the good pics of that since he was in prime position. The reception was a blast and Lindie spent most of the night dancing with her bridesmaids. I think Dave was content mingling with the crowd and leaving the dancing to his new wife (their dance together will be in the B&W post next.) After it was all over, the happy couple hopped in their limo (Lin ditched the dress as you can see.)

Lindie's Wedding Part 1-Getting Ready

Here are a few images from my sister's wedding to Dave on Saturday. The first few pics are actually from the rehearsal on Friday. Everything else is from the big day. Every wedding has it's signature touches-for this one it was the groom delivering his own beer to the wedding and my sister rocking the Chuck's under her dress. As you can see, she looked beautiful.

Pancakes at 10 PM

You know it's time to go shopping when you find yourself eating pancakes at this hour. They sure were tasty though! And I don't have to wake up early to make Emma breakfast now...Genius!

2008

After our trip to the Zoo (see post below) we went over to hang out with Jill's family. Emma's cousins were there to provide entertainment for her. We broke out the SNES (or Super Nintendo for you non-nerds) for the kids to play with. It's scary to think that I was only a little older than them and playing these games when they were brand new!

Note Emma's shoes in the first picture. They have been her obsession lately. In our attempts to get her bipedal (ok, walking for the non-nerds again) we've started putting her in shoes a lot more often. Now she actually wants them on. The first steps are coming soon, I can feel it...

I know you're all probably sick of the pictures of Emma eating, but I posted this last one for a couple of reasons. First off, I think it will illustrate to all of you who have not witnessed Emma eating the voracity with which she attacks food. Second, this frame marks my first time shooting with the 5D at ISO 1600. Back in the film days, 1600 meant TONS of grain and while it looked good in some situations, it wasn't for everyone or everything. I was kind of forced to boost the ISO for this frame since I was shooting available light with the 135mm lens and my shutter speeds were a little too slow for that much lens. The images looked good and I'm sure I will be more comfortable going to 1600 if needed in the future. Enough of the camera lesson for the day.

On another note, I promise my next post won't be black & white. I guess I've just been in that kind of mood lately-don't hold it against me... :o)

Zoo

Today we made use of our Zoo membership and took a little trip. To the contrary of Jill's prediction that nobody would be there, it was packed. It was also very windy, which kept a lot of the animals in hiding. The otters were snuggling up with each other to keep warm and the orangutan baby was having a good time while his parents rested. I wish that I could be so care free about letting Emma roam around and play...
