More of Luke

This morning Emma and I went over to spend some time with Katie and Luke. Emma was eager to share her bread with Luke and seemed a little miffed that he wouldn't take it. I'm sure once he's old enough to enjoy bread, she will be in no mood to share...

I'm a Bad Armature...

Sorry to those of you who usually come here to look at a few pictures and see what's going on in my life, but I need to take a minute to address a comment that was left on my blog earlier today. I'm sure that the person who posted it (anonymously, go figure) didn't think I would even have the guts to post it as a comment, let alone address it in a post so that everyone could read it. So without further ado, here's the comment:

Honestly??
You can tell Eric has a good camera and a knack for taking armature pictures, but they certainly don't look like a professional photographer took them. Take a look them yourself. Also he doesn't have a knack for catching the right light or angles there is a general lock of composure and disregard for the general rules of composition. I can clearly see that there were many missed moments… I hope for the sake of the bride he wasn’t the only photographer. Eric NEEDS to stay out of the photography business as he is going to leave many a bride very disappointed. Stick to the Craigslist Posting for budget wedding work!

Let me simply respond by saying this... I don't expect everyone to like my photos. If you don't like them, then great. Go find a photographer that fits your style. As for these particular pictures, I was not the primary photographer. As such, I was being considerate to the commissioned wedding photographer and staying out of his way (and incidentally, probably missing out on some of those moments that you speak of.) I will not go into this particular situation any further as I don't feel I need to justify myself to you, nor do I need to speak badly of another photographer to make myself feel better.

As for you, Mr. or Mrs. Anonymous, I would love to discuss my composition and lighting choices with you further privately. Maybe you'll have the guts to step up to the plate. You will find that I've disabled anonymous comments, so you'll have to find another way to get in touch with me. You seem like a resourceful person, so I await your reply...

For all of the rest of you, I apologize again that I had to waste the time doing this. Thanks to all of my friends, family, and clients who enjoy my work and encourage me. I guess the bar's been raised by my anonymous friend, so look for even better work in the future. :o)

More Luke Pics

I've had some requests to post more pictures of Luke, so here are a couple from last week when Katie and Keith came over for dinner. Emma was very excited to see Luke, but I think she was more excited to play with his car seat (as you can see in the second picture.)

Dani & Kevin's Wedding

Wow, what a weekend! Jill's younger sister Danielle was married to Kevin on Saturday. The evening was great and everything went wonderfully. Dani and Kevin asked me to document the rehearsal and dinner for them. Their photographer also asked for a little help at the reception since his assistant didn't show. I followed along as the wedding party moved to a great Irish pub for the after party. You can check out all the images at:

Wake Up

Here's a picture from when Emma woke up from her nap a couple of days ago...

Graduaton

Yesterday was the graduation party for Jill's sister Danielle. She just graduated from U of A with her doctorate in pharmacy. Everyone had a great time at the party and it was a good warm up for Danielle and Kevin's wedding next Saturday. Too much excitement for one week!

Mother's Day

This evening we had my family over for dinner to celebrate Mother's Day. Jill was bugging me to take a picture of her with Emma, so we went outside after dinner to take a few shots. My dad helped out and snapped a few of the three of us too.

At the Mall

Here are some images from this Thursday at San Tan Village. These were film images taken on my Contax. Unfortunately, the camera died on me while I was shooting at the mall and is currently out of commission. Luckily there were some good last images though...

24-70 f/2.8

Ahh, I love boxes from B&H!!! My new lens came today. I had a little daylight left to try it out this evening. I love the wide angle perspective that it's given me, and it focuses nice and close. Too bad these pieces of glass cost so much because I'm addicted...

Double Piggies

Here are a few images from today of Emma's new hairstyle. Emma came home from the sitter with this style yesterday and I thought it looked very cute on her, so I attempted it on my own today. I think I managed to pull it off ok. Emma and I had a great day today. Jill is off in California for the weekend, so we had a lot of time to play.
