Josh Modeling

Josh had a great night last night, which of course we paid for today with some horrible naps. I don't know if we threw him off by going to the zoo this morning (sorry no pics-camera was with me but had to stay in the bag) or if it was something else, but he was in rare form. Since he was awake so much, we decided to take advantage and snap a few pictures of him outside. He looks so much different when he's not laying flat on his back. I guess we'll call this his first "official" photo shoot. I guess they all kind of blend together when your daddy is the photographer-his 2 month life has pretty much been one perpetual photo shoot interrupted by eating and occasional sleep.

Josh and Mommy

I took this frame about a week ago while Josh was playing on his mat and Jill was attentively watching over him. Not much else to say about it, just one of my favorites for the time being.

2 for 1 Bath

This is from a few nights ago when we popped Emma and Josh in the tub together for a quick bath. Josh was out first and Emma was fixated on laying on her towel like Josh when she dried off. Emma was happy to look at the camera. Josh took a lot of persuading. This is about as good as I could get.

Sleeping

This has been Josh's preferred sleeping method for the last few weeks. Binky, swaddler, and on the Boppy. It seems like a whole procedure getting him ready for bed compared to Emma right now. He is sleeping better though and that is worth all the trouble.

Easter

We had a great Easter on Sunday. We spent most of the morning here at the house and then went over to the Wiemann's in the afternoon to spend time with Jill's family and mine as well. Here are some images from the day:

Emma started the morning hunting for her Easter basket. Here is her "HMMMMM" face that she makes with her finger up to her mouth. The question was "Where do you think your basket could be Emma?" You might be able to faintly see it in the background under her table...
These bunny ears were in her basket. She reluctantly posed for a picture with them.

When we got over to Grammy and Poppa's, my sister Lindie gave Emma a bubble machine for Easter. She LOVED it. The thing is seriously more like a bubble machine gun.

A couple of frames of Emma running during the Easter egg hunt. She was very excited and trying to beat her cousins to the eggs.

Success!!!

After the eggs, the cake came out. I took a bunch of pictures of her stuffing her face, but this is the cutest one of the bunch.

And for some reason at the end of the day we dyed the Easter eggs. Kind of bass-ackwards if you ask me.

And this pretty much sums up Josh's Easter. Not too much to holidays for him yet...

Rainy Saturday

We had a pretty decent rain storm blow through on Saturday morning. Other than the fact that it ruined my plans to go out shooting in the morning, rain is always welcome around here. Emma was having a hard time understanding why she couldn't go outside and play on her swingset while it was raining. I was able to keep her happy by opening the back door and letting her stand there and watch/hear the rain. Ever since Josh was born, she has been obsessed with being wrapped in blankets. Since it was cold outside, I was more than happy to wrap her up this time.

Swingset

Today as I was driving home from work I was thinking how beautiful the light looked and loving the fact that there was still daylight at 6:30. I was happily surprised when I made it home and saw Emma playing outside on her new swingset/slide with her cousins. What a great reason to get the camera out and enjoy the light!

We got the swingset for Emma a couple of weeks ago in an effort to get Emma to play independently while we were taking care of Josh. So far it is working fairly well, although Emma can't seem to get herself up on the swings yet by herself. She absolutely loves the slide though and flies down it constantly. All in all, I think it was a good investment...

Weekend With Grandparents

Josh has finally turned the corner from his week of funk, so we set out this weekend to go see the families. We had lunch yesterday with Jill's family and of course Mark spent a good bit of time doting on Josh. Emma had a blast running around with her cousins. After spending most of the afternoon there, we ran over to my parent's house to say hi for a while. Ya-ya got to feed Josh and spend some time with him while Emma led Poppy around the house. And the best part of the whole day was both kids passing out in the car between stops. Best car ride. Ever.

Week From Hell

It seems like I've been only making it on here about once a week to post. I would love to be able to get on here more and post some pictures or stories about Josh, but its just not happening. This week has been an especially tough one around here.

Last Wednesday was my first day back at work, which would have been fine if not for the fact that Emma was sick when I went back. Josh quickly followed with the sniffles and his sleep pattern started to get out of whack. He went for a weight check on Friday and it was discovered that he had an ear infection. You would think that would be the beginning of the story getting better, but it turns out to just be the beginning of the story...

We started Josh on antibiotics and Josh went from bad to worse. He wouldn't sleep for more than 30-45 minute stretches and he would cry inconsolably. We put up with this for the weekend and on Monday Jill called the doctor. He thought that we were feeding Josh too much and that was the cause of the problem. Throttle the bottles back an ounce and nothing changes.

Yesterday Jill called her sister (a pharmacist) and learned in talking to her that Josh was basically getting double dosed on antibiotic. She confronted the doctor with this and he conceded that the dose was probably a little high. Josh ate nothing but Pedialyte all day yesterday and had a decent day...until we gave him the next dose of antibiotic, coincidentally right at the end of the night. So Josh had another horrible night which meant little to no sleep for both Jill and I. Needless to say, tensions are running a little high around here.

It seems like Josh has finally gotten adjusted to his medication. The poor thing is so exhausted that all he's done is slept all day. Let's hope it continues tonight.

Hopefully sometime soon I will be back to posting some pictures of Josh, but I haven't really felt like taking pictures of a screaming child. And now you know about the fun week at the Hildwine house...

Face

Here are a couple of images of Emma when she was outside playing a couple of days ago. One day I will be able to get some pictures of her without scabs/marks on her face, but the kid is a magnet for injury. These ones are a courtesy of a face plant on her new swingset. More on that to come soon...
